Staff Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/AWS)

The role

Our client is a consumer technology business with a large, growing engineering organisation. Platform work is treated as a product: the team has a clear mandate, a roadmap and direct access to engineering leadership.

This is a staff-level role. You will set technical direction as well as write code, and you will be expected to explain platform trade-offs to people outside the team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design and operation of the Kubernetes and AWS platform.
• Improve deployment safety, observability and incident response.
• Reduce cloud cost without compromising reliability.
• Build self-service tooling for product engineering teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and set platform standards.

What we are looking for

• Deep experience running Kubernetes in production.
• Strong AWS knowledge, including networking, IAM and cost management.
• A software engineering background, not only operations.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD at scale.
• Clear communication and a pragmatic approach to trade-offs.

What is on offer

• Base salary of £95,000–£115,000.
• Fully remote within the UK, with optional office time in London.
