Cyber Security Engineer

A hands-on security engineering role in a critical infrastructure software business, improving detection, response and cloud security.

The role

Our client builds software used in critical infrastructure. Security is a core product requirement, not a compliance afterthought. The security team works closely with platform engineering and product teams.

You will be involved in engineering as well as assurance: building controls, improving detection and helping teams make secure design decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Improve cloud security controls across AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Build and tune detection and response workflows.
  • Review architecture and support secure design.
  • Run vulnerability management and remediation.
  • Contribute to incident response and post-incident learning.

What we are looking for

  • Hands-on security engineering experience in cloud environments.
  • Strong AWS and Kubernetes knowledge.
  • Experience with detection, logging and incident response.
  • A practical, risk-based approach rather than checkbox compliance.
  • Clear communication with engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

What is on offer

  • Base salary of £75,000–£90,000.
  • Hybrid working with two days per week in Leeds.
